I need a better, more formal way of saying this sentence! Help?

"But who knows where the future will lead, hopeful next semester will be as good, if not even better, than this one!" So that's my sentence- but it's a train wreck and I cannot think of another way to say it... please help xx

How about " It is unknown where the future will lead. I look forward to the next semester and hope that it will be even better than the the one we are leaving behind."

One never knows what the future will bring; but I hope next semester is even better than this one.

The future is unknown but all I wish is for next semester to be as fun and magical as the last.

Who knows what the future holds; hopefully, next semester will be as good, if not better, than this semester was. If you can break it into two sentences - "Who knows what the future holds". "Hopefully, next semester will be as good, if not better, than this semester was."
