My cat is keeping me up, he will paw and purr loudly. How do I stop my cat without kicking him out of my room?

Maybe you can allocate your cat a special 'bed' and maybe tie a toy to a strong thick string. This maybe will interrupt him and instead he will be playing with it. This works for younger cats.

Your cat wants some attention. Make sure she gets plenty of exercise and stimulation during the day. By bedtime she will sleep like a baby.

Or, maybe she's hungry?

You cannot stop your cat. I rescue abused and abandoned cats and kittens and have a couple of 'kids' of my own. This behavior by your cat is called kneading. Cats do this when content and very happy. They learn this as kittens while feeding... You are the first cat owner I ever encountered who is bothered by this... Your cat is letting you know how good he is feeling while he is by your side in your bed. You can pet him and perhaps he will stop or unfortunately, I guess you will have to 'kick' him out of your room as you posted...

If this is keeping her up at night I'm not sure he's just expressing his gratitude. I'd have to respectfully disagree and say he needs more stimulation during the day.

When cats purr and knead they are at their most content state. Google the word kneading... I stand by my post. Enjoy your day...

Google doesn't always show the right answers. I agree and say that the cat need more time to play preferably before bed.

McKensie, you are entitled to your own opinion however, as a rescuer or abused and abandoned cats and kittens, and an owner of a cat or two my entire life, what I posted is what it is. Wikipedia is an online dictionary. If you enter the word kneading, you will see a link for bread then a link for cats whereby when they knead they are relaxed, peaceful and most content. The cat is quite relaxed and does not need require more playtime and/or stimulation...

Edward, I completely understand as
one of my cat's morning routine is to jump on my bed and up on my chest when hungry for breakfast.. Thankfully she is small... It is alright if you gently move her away since she slept with you all night so you can catch a few more winks of sleep... Enjoy your holiday weekend...

Learn how to train him...everytime he comes near, scare him while saying 'Go', when he steps back, say 'Good boy' and give him a treat...do this again and again and he will get the command...

If you don't have a cat bed yet, try to find an inexpensive one to put at the end of your bed. After some undivided attention earlier (play time), cuddle as long as you can w/your cat at bedtime and then try to put him or her on the cat-bed. When it comes down to it, though, the cat will decide where it wants to be. Some cats can never get enough attention and this can be annoying. Don't feel bad if you have to kick him or her out for the night so you can get a good night's sleep.

Gently readjust him on the bed so he is kneading the covers and you. Once finished he should go to sleep
