What's a good, fair priced phone good for a teenager?

My mum's the kind of parent who doesn't want to pay much for my phone since I'm only 15. What's a phone that's priced good, monthly bills are around 50 or 60 and that is good and useful for a 14 year old?

Tell them to pay for half of the phone. Whatever they can pay for, pay the same amount

Are they paying for all of it?
Report as
My mum is, yes.

Oh. My bad I thought this was from a parents point of view. Well is this your first phone?
Report as
Oh, no, from a teenager's. Sorta. It's the first phone I'm going to be using a lot and actually need.

Depends. What is your carrier?
Report as
It wouldn't matter.
Report as
Well every carrier hold dofferent phones
Report as
I understand that. That's why it was a broad question, asking for a good phone, because it can be any carrier.
Report as
Usually the kids phone will be under the same carrier as their parents. However if you are looking for a somewhat cheap phone that is worth your money, most LG phones would work.

There are many phones you can get for free with a contract(saying you will pay bills for say 2 years or something). I would say go to AT&T, Verizon, or whatever server's store and look at options. The monthly bill depends on what you want(unlimited or limited text, data, talk, etc.)

My mum would prefer something without a contract so that if she takes away my phone, or if she needs to take it away from me completely, she'll be able to.
Report as
Then a go phone may be best. You pay for it as you use it and if you don't use it, you don't pay

Thank you! This should help a lot.

No problem- affording a phone can be tough!
Report as
Oh it's not about affording it's just my mum doesn't want to pay much for MY phone because she doesn't think a 15 year old should have a phone.

Been there!

Maybe a Blackberry or any slide phone would be deemed appropriate for your age...

I just got the iPhone for free and added to my wife's account for $40 month. If you go with a phone that requires a data plan, I suggest figuring out how much time you will be near wifi vs. mon wifi. Wifi will not use any of your allotted data on your plan.

Right but I really need a model that's good. I know about monthly costs but there are some phones (like the ones I want) that the lowest monthly bill is like 70.00 a month, and my mum doesn't want to pay that. What's a good phone, not how to keep the monthly bill low.
Report as
Sorry, I meant to say iphone4. That's the one I have, and I really like it. Like I said, it was free at Verizon.
Report as
The monthly bill is high, though. And my mum doesn't like the idea of a 2-year contract. I really wanted to get it, actually, and I saw it was free, but the high monthly bill she's not too happy about.

Before this phone, I had an android for straight talk. The phone is about $130 but the bill is only &45 a month for unlimited talk, text, and data. I used them for over 2 years with no trouble and I live in the country.
