Can cast iron be welded to stainless steel if so what kind of stick rod do I use

Report as

Cast iron cannot be welded to stainless steel. This is because cast iron does not have enough strength. Therefore, the grain structure of the metal cannot be altered easily. Stainless weld normally shrinks on cooling. Visit http://www.hcca.org/tech.php?14 for details.

You would be better off with JB weld or mechanical fasteners as cast will not weld well.
