What's the best way to start a new routine?

I've wanted to start a new routine for a while, but once I've done it for a couple days I end up forgetting or missing part of it. Advice?

First you need the willingness to start a new routine. Don't just want something new, Need something new. People have the potential to do what they want but most don't give the time or work to reach their own goals. If you want success or change then you need to need it more then anything else. You need the fifth tenet of the five tenets I try to live my life by, which is the enduring spirit tenet. The enduring spirit: The enduring Spirit is the conviction to get what you want done even though many others failed or quite before you. The enduring spirit never gives up it is the most powerful form of Conviction. The other four tenets are(If interested) Honesty, Integrity, Perseverance and self-control.

Put sticky notes reminding yourself of your new routine somewhere will you will see it everyday. For example: by your toothbrush, on your fridge, next to your bed etc.

The key to making things a habit is to do them for two weeks without fail. Keep on going at the routine is to try again and again.

Set a time for the new routine and find the right balance for doing it, not too much or too little. And make it fun if possible

You could find some way to remind you of such a new routine, such as remarkable sign in your room or something else, and then try to repeat it for 21 days. Usually, you will get used to it then.

Small steps. No matter what we're trying to learn, small steps are repetition are the keys. Habits become habits through repetition, and small steps make transitions less daunting. I need to lose 50 lbs, but I'm better off working off 5 at a time. A "new routine" will only take hold with repetition and reasonable expectations. Also, don't be so hard on yourself for missing it in the beginning...you're still learning!

I have started a new routine & the best way is to do something that makes you feel good. Say you are trying to lose weight,
1) add some strength training for the endorphins
2) Get around other people, even if you have to go to McDonald's do be around people.
read blogs where they talk about what you are doing. Find motivation on you tube.
3) Don't forget, make a list like the other person said.
4) Stick to it.

My most recent one is working out. Some times I get blah feeling, put on the music I'm good. Oh, I work out at home, forget the gym

Hope this helps,
Erica

Some words from the Tao, or Tao Teh Ching: Attending to great things at small beginnings. You simply must follow through everyday or it's like starting over each time you drop off, whether it's a routine of once a day, twice a week - you follow ;))~

Frist write a list of why you want to start a new routine ex. start exercising daily after you make your list read it see if you are wanting to start a new routine for the right reason like get healthy and not " because Janie is doing it" if its not something you want to do for the right reasons you wont stick with it then go over your daily seclude and add in a new part of the routine like get up eat get ready and then some type od exercise slowly like first day do 15 mins. then the rest of your day and slowly day by day a little more and pretty soon you will be doing your new routine daily Good Luck
