Ha! I take offense. I am an American woman and am far from being ungrateful and materialistic. I count my blessings everyday and am thankful to have a loving husband and a home to live in. There will always be people who need to keep up with the Jones, but there are many more people out there who are humble. 8)
What one person is grateful for another takes for granted. Perhaps you are not connecting with them as well as you think you are. Read the book: "How to make people like you in 90 seconds," it'll change your life and you will find that people are grateful.
Well didn't "The Material Girl" sing we are living in a Material World? (She also sang or rather whispered in a song for me to "express myself" and not repress myself. I took her advice and now I'm wanted in a certain county in a certain state for just such an expression)
That's not not a very exact statement. I have friends that are that way over seas compared to me. To each their own and depends on how you were raised. That and what status you are depending on what country, area, etc.
