Am I missing something?

I have a friend who is single most of the time but she's always saying how she wants someone so bad. well when someone shows her interest, she always turns them down. I don't understand.

She's not compatible with the people who show her interest.
You're not missing anything.

She's probably not used too attention since she's been single so long

I don't know if you are missing something, but unfortunately your friend probably is.

This is very common behavior in young women with low self-esteem. The logic works this way. Since they don't feel good about themselves they believe anybody who likes them must be somehow flawed therefore they don't want to date them.

Thank you! I think this describes her perfectly.

Perhaps she has impossibly high standards and finds fault with every potential partner that comes along. This is unfortunate because there will never come along anyone without faults.

The problem is that she has low self esteem. I know that because I'm the same way

Someone showing interest in her doesn't mean she's going to be attracted to them. She's waiting for someone to show interest who she's interested in in return.
