How do I ask the family I "babysit" for, for a raise?
I am a "babysitter," as my employers call it, but, I do ask much as they do for their own child. I consider myself a "nanny," I make $10 an hour and I feel as if I am being taken advantage of, I use my own car to take the child to after school activities, multiple times a week, I drive 160+ miles a month; I do everything for the child, I get her off the bus, get her a snack, help her with homework, reading, projects, etc. Drive her around, bring her to play-dates (and stay!) bring her home, I do cleaning, help with laundry, etc. and I am there Mon-Friday! (It use to be Mon-Thurs but that recently changed when one of the parents got a new job) I stay late on a moments notice, and sometimes they don't even call until its already a 1/2 hour after I was suppose to leave. I feel like I should be making more, I asked for a raise, but..they did not get the point that I need more money (mind you I am 18, and starting college in the fall, and just had to buy a new car)... What should I do?
