* lots of stuff to do and you usually aren't more than a couple hours away from a beach. * if you don't like cold weather, it's the place to be, as it's often warm and sunny * some areas have relatively low costs of living
* historically lots of hurricanes * can be very hot and muggy (even in the winter) * BUGS... all sorts of funky bugs * very high insurance rates (because of above mentioned storms)
I can't list a pro. I hated it there. There is so many people and they are so rude!! the price of living is outrageous!! the weather is so miserable its not a good warm or hot its so muggy. and some of the bugs that live there are freakish!!
Pros: It's really sunny, if you're into that. We have lots of palm trees. The people here are exotic to an extent..mostly Cuban, but there's all sorts of Latinos. Good food, and beaches. Disney world. :) Cons: Super humid. Lots of roaches during the summer. The weather is bipolar, so it's always either raining or blazing hot. There are no seasons, you don't get to see the trees change. People here are really loud. Hurricanes. It costs A LOT for an ambulance...I learned that the hard way.
Lived there from June to December-when I left Dec 10th it was 89 degrees with 77 per cent humidity--clothes and hair always wet from sweat-sun blinding you-no people-they are hiding in their trailers and tacky motels---super high prices-lots of hookers up and down the Tamiami Trail, and you will never never never find a rental without TONS of giant roaches-I don't care how clean it is-lucky if you don't have mice, too. If the beach is your thing, you might like it--people go around nearly naked-not my kind of thing at all-couldn't wait to move back up north-oh,and nearly ever guy I met was a drunk, druggie or hustler of some kind--and very few decent jobs.People with college degrees are making 8$ an hour-knew of 2 graduates who went to work in stores-one at a clothing store-min wage-one at an all-night convenience store.also min wage-but they considered themselves lucky to have jobs at all-met tons of people who live outdoors all year in like these bands of hippy-slackers-in short-creepiest place I have ever lived in my entire life.
i went to visit florida few years ago and loved it. i saw and also heard that some jobs are hard to get due to economy. there are several areas that senior citizen population reside and those places have scarce jobs. i don't know how long you plan to stay there if you move there; but, miami is on the top 10 high crime list. i dont't want to sound like bearer of bad news; it is just a fact. hope that helps.
Pros*** the sun and beaches rock. It's ushully only 1/2 hours away. You go boating a lot. DISNEY WORLD!! It all depends on where in Florida you live. Don't like in like Tallahassee. You should move to maybe Ft.Lauderdale or Davie. Lots of things happen in Florida there's always something fun to do. No tornados!!!
Cons**** in summer it's really hot! But that's why everyone has a pool lol. From Florida just to Atlanta Georgia it's 6 hours. Great colleges. Florida State. University of Miami. Not really much cons but I will never move out of Florida
