Can you update your iPod if it's jailbroken?

my sister has a (janky) iPod touch 4th generation and she jailbroke it half a year ago. and when the new iOS 6.1.3 came out she tried updating it but it said "an error has occurred". does she have to unjailbroke it if she wants to update it or not? and how do you unjailbrake it?

If She Tried To Update Her Phone && It Said That Message, That Is A Totally Different Problem && Have NOTHING To Do With The Jailbreaking. Idk How To Solve That Problem. But I Do Know That If You Update Your Phone, The Phone Will Be Come Un-Jailbroken.

Yes but you jailbreak will go away and you won't be able to jailbreak again the new iOS does not hava a jail break.. I Recomend you do a back up file just incase if the update causes Damage.. Notice that if you try jail breaking a phone that has been jail broken before will mess it up I did it to mine and it stayed on the Turning on apple screen. Jailbreak does tend to make your phone lagg a little..
