Perhaps, a pug, pomerainian, dauschaund, or maybe a boston terrier puppy.Any one of these would be a great choice to start with Then maybe when he or she gets older, they can try a larger breed of dog.
rescues are always good pets( all mine are so thankful unconditionally loving ) . I would recommend any Labrador/ retriever/mix, setter avoid terriers till you're more experienced. they'r high strung. Hounds can be very protective lealous.
Don't let the name trick you but a American Pit Bull , if raised right it can be one of the most friendly breeds available for purchase :) there not aggressive , easy to train and bond with .... I highly suggest one
It depends on if he or she has any experience with dogs. If not I would suggest a not small dog but not big. Kind of in between. However I highly recommend a standard poodle. Even though they're big they are very gentle. Mine will let my three year old nephew walk him. Standard poodles are very social and want to be with you most of the time. They are great dogs for any age!!
