How can i tell if my incoming tooth is infected or just hurting from breaking the skin?

My tooth in the very back, i think it's called a molar, is coming in finally but it really hurts to the point that it hurts just to swallow normally. Is it supposed to hurt this much when your molar comes in? Or should i get it checked to see if it's infected?

It is a sign of wisdom teeth growing. Wisdom teeth usually grow at the very back of the mouth, after your molars. The wisdom teeth pain is usually normal and it is due to it being prevented from emerging by other teeth. You should see a dentist for this.

If davesmust is right and it's wisdom teeth, definitely see a dentist. Most humans' mouths aren't big enough for that final set of teeth, and it can cause all sorts of problems.

You have to see dentist for advice, not strangers. You never heard of a molar before? You just have to get real info....

The concern with wisdom teeth is not just the pain of them coming thru the skin but the damage they may cause pushing and cramping all the other teeth so they can force a place to sit. The only thing wise about wisdom teeth is how fast you can hAve them plucked.
