Is it normal that my hips (I think) kind of click when I do leg lifts?

Whenever I'm doing leg lifts, I always get a little clicking/shifting feeling in my hips when I go down pretty low. Is this normal? What does it mean? It doesn't hurt at all; it's just annoying. I also occasionally get this when doing squats.

Do you "warm" up before you start doing leg lifts?
If not, then do a warm up first. Go for a 10 minute walk around the block.
THEN do your exercises.

This isnt much of an answer but ever since i had my first baby my hip clicks when i walk..
