What does it mean if you get sad or down for no reason?

Sometimes out of no where I get sad or down. I think I might be depressed but I'm not sure. I haven't got tested. I just want to know why I get sad for no reason? Sometimes I'll just get down and my stomach will start hurting or feeling weird. It's like a worried feeling but I'm not worried, I just feel sad.. I'm 14 years old.

There is a slight chance of it being clinical depression, however I would guess it's just a little hormones, puberty, and being a teenager. If you're a girl, this is going to happen and the only thing to do is eat some kind of chocolate/ice cream/cake/bacon and watch a chick flick. If you're a guy...well frankly I don't know. I'm not a guy, so I can't help you with that one. I guess look at some boobs or something idk.

I don't think that's it. I have a past. After I moved last year I have felt depressed. I just don't show it. And when I get the chance to vent to someone I talk to much. But no I don't think it's puberty.

It could also just be a stage in life. You will get over it in a couple of weeks.

DO NOT HIDE IT. TELL YOUR MOTHER AT ONCE please.

How do i tell her

Just say, "Mom, I need to talk to you about something." And basically say what you said in your question.

Well I think I also have ADHD too. Sometimes I talk alot and its hard to control it. I try to stop but then I find myself doing it again. Or I get super hyper. I will talk about one thing then change to a different subject really quick. I have brought up the ADHD thing but she didn't believe me. So it'll be hard telling her about the depression thing cause she might not believe me. Should I just ask for a counselor?

What you need to do is tell her that you seriously need help and that she needs to listen to you. She's your MOTHER. She needs to be open to your thoughts and concerns, no matter what.

Do you know the signs of depression?
I've been feeling depression since December 2012. My friend told her mom and her mom talked to HER counselor and her counselor said that I'm most likely depressed.

Does your mother know about this??

Tell your mom before it gets any worse.

Your mother needs to know. Just don't do anything drastic until you get some help.

Well I would have to tell my mom first. I hold my feelings in when I'm around people. My mom doesn't know I feel like this. I hide it good. It feels like it gets worst as the months go. I don't know what to do about it. I try to be happy but something always pulls me down.

Yeaah best thing to do is speak to your mom. good luck hope you feel better soon

If you feel like sad a lot, you should see a Dr. It's better to hear it's just hormones or puberty than to let the depression ruin your life. Good luck.

Where do you live? Could be as simple as Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Easy as lack of sunshine & warmth. Take a vitamin D supplement during winter months, drink OJ w/ calcium & vitamin D & get a solar lamp (your MD can recommend one over the phone). You're young! Get LOTS of exercise & fresh air & SUN! That's where you get your natural vitamin D.
