How do I fix a water damaged iPod touch?

I went to a pool party with my iPod in a plastic bag in my bag, and when I went to take it out, the bag was really wet, and it was plastered with water to the iPod. The iPod was covered with water, though not dripping. I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't work, so I put it in rice. It's been in rice for about a day now. Will the iPod still work, even though I tried to turn it on? And when I take the iPod out of the rice, should I try to turn it on, or charge it first? please help!

If it was recent, you can soak it in rice. The rice will absorb the water from it. If this doesn't work, hopefully you got an insurance plan. c:

I would plug it in the charger and leave it in the bag of rice for a couple days.

Try placing it in a bag of uncooked dry rice and try to pull some of the moisture out.
