My cockatiel used to chirp a lot, but now she barely chirps at all and when she does chirp, the chirp is broken up. Whats wrong with her?

Recently, I've noticed that my cockatiel isn't chirping as much as she usually does, and when she tries to chirp, the chirp is all broken up and it is as if she's losing her voice. Please can someone help me out and tell me what could possibly be wrong with her.

If she is a female, then that would explain it because females are typically less vocal than males. On the other hand, it might be that she isn't well, in which case you should have a vet examine her for the right diagnosis and treatment.
