Get in touch with the neighbor and see if you can trust them. The neighbor at our cabin is a good friend of ours. So if he sees some strange goings-on, he tends to react. Last time, he scared some hooligans off with his revolver. A good friend is the best security.
They used to get into our trailer up in the hills and shoot at it too. Finally had to run three strands of barb wire out on the perimeter of the property to stop it. A ton of work, but we haven't been bothered since.
Typical security measures .. Break resistent locks, security cameras, communicate with your neighbours and be on the lookout for suspicious activity, never under estimate the fact that it could be an 'inside job'.

You could buy"fake cameras or motion sensors". They are actually just cameras that look like the real thing to an intruder. Some even rotate and have a red beam to appear even more intimidating. At the very least it will make thieves think twice.
Here are some Choices Real Camera,Fake Camera,Dog,Super super super super super super super glue (so it will keep the door shut),Super Duper Power Locks,Alarm,Special System like having a Motion Senor that has a camera that has connection with the police or you can have a.......... ..........ADT Alarm
Electric not finished yet, means motion sensors are out unless you can set up a solar one. Lights and noise that come on at motion would be a nice idea for a secluded place. But activity around the 'cabin' is the best deterrent. The creeps may be back if they know you are not around.
