McDonald's is so cheap because the quality of their food is so low. The chickens and cows that they use for food are mistreated and abused, which is less expensive than humanely raising them and killing them. Their food products are highly processed and have very little nutrition. Eeew.

Because its all about volume ! Say I open a burger place and my burgers are exactly the same at McDonalds , but I sell a burger for $3 and McDonald's sells them for $1 , who would you buy from me or McDonald's . Also since there only $1 why not get 3 for $3 instead of 3 for $9
because mcdonalds chicken nuggets come in four shapes bone, boot, ball and bell you don't beleive me go to mcdonalds and order the ten piece(or higher) if you order the four piece you most likely will not get all the shapes. sort the nuggets according to similar shape(some nuggets might be fused or messed up during processing) and try to identify the four shapes that I already said and you will see the same occuring shapes. mcdonalds does this to hide the fact that it's processed so the workers will try not to add too many of the same shapes. or go on google and type in: what are the shapes of mcdonalds chicken nuggets and there should be names i listed above and sometimes pics.
McDonald's uses wood shavings in their food, and this is not a myth, they have openly admitted to it, but of course, we eat it anyway. They are also a huge chain therefore they have enough income to get along by smoothly without have to increase their prices. Honestly, their foods are extremely horrible for your body. It is disgusting for your body, please, and I mean PLEASE try to lower the amount of times you go per week if it is more often than 3 times per week.
The food at Mcdonalds is cheap because they get it cheap. A case of McChicken patties, is about $12 through their provider Golden State foods. Each case has 8 bags of about 24 patties per bag. Nuggets are more expensive...they're about $40 per case. Each case has 36 bags of about 20 nuggets per bag. On average our store buys anywhere from 1500-4000 dollars of merchandise on each truck. Anywhere from meat, to the fruit toppings for the parfaits they we make everyday. That is why the food is so cheap. The machines that we make the food and drinks with, are the most expensive things we have. The ice cream machine alone is $30,000, and the Frappe machine put us back another $20,000. The automatic pop machine in drive-thru...well the parts and sensors for that is more than what I make in a year. I'm sure that thing is still worth over a hundred grand with all the abuse its received before I even started working there.
While everyone's ragging on the "low quality" beef and chicken, they're forgetting about the lowest quality, most unhealthy thing on the menu - any fast food menu, for that matter - the sodas laden with a poison that has been dubbed high fructose corn syrup.
Because that is how they built their empire... on being cheap and fast. It is called economics. If you have 5 marshmellows and you walk in to a campsite where there are a lot of people who want marshmellows and are willing to pay for them they will pay you more than if you have ten or 20. They will still sell, but not for as much, because they are not such a commodity.
It is my personal belief, after some medical studies, that the "substances" used for McD's "food" is detrimental to your health. I would love to believe most consider the fact that they have billions in stock for Big Pharma, so the food may be "cheap" now, but, you will definitley pay in medical bills or poor health and disease in the future. The "Mc D Fortune company" will get money from you somehow!
Because the food is so low in quality, you might as well call it play food. The chicken is being replaced with strange chemical substances (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCqKl4Q3hW4), the fries last way longer than regular fries, and the cow's are abused to the point where their meat is inedible. I'm lovin' it.
McDonald's is very cheap for many reasons. First, the food and meat quality is very, very low. They don't have to pay much for it. (For example, aluminum is cheaper than silver.) Second, since they don't treat animals right, they are less expensive. They don't have to pay for the cows to graze or have open fields, so they feed them grains--and at one point, cow scraps. Mad cow disease, anyone? Third, they don't really have to make a large profit, since they sell so much. They can get more money with a smaller profit and a larger amount sold, rather than a large profit and small amount sold. I encourage everyone to watch the movie "Veducated," as it exposes the horrors of meat processing, which you ONLY SUPPORT by going to Micky D's. So are you lovin' it? I'm not.
When people says " it's not humanly raised and killed" that's not the right answer . I live in UAE " Arabian country" the people there are Muslim so their religion says that they shouldn't eat any animals that has been abused and has been killed in inappropriate way. so McDonald's has a good meat there they call it "Halal" because the animals are humanely raised and killed, and it still cheap. The right answer is " Thy want to attract people, and making one meal won't actually gonna cost them a lot, maybe 1 dollar
because mcdonalds is very popular and if you make something that looks delicious and the price is low then people are going to want to buy it and the money adds up. that burger may be a dollar but they make thousands on it in one day...why raise the price? and yea they are unhealthy but what do you expect from a fast food place??
The cost is externalized through: pain and suffering of animals, misuse and destruction of land and soil, exploitation of human lives, government subsidized commodities used to produce over processed food like substances that are psychologically marketed to a large experimentally medicated populace of human cash cows.
McDonald's makes billions annually. They are cheap because they are producing so much 'meat' and 'other food' that it would be hard to keep up with the demand of people ordering the food If the food was actually quality. If McDonald's food was quality, prices would dramatically drop due to the price of the meat, buns, cheese, etc. They're making billions and it doesn't look like there doing anything to change it anytime soon.
jackie you should not give out with an opinion and treat it as fact, that would be STUPID. Mc Donalds food is less expensive for many reasons. the chief reason is the buying power of the massive chain. the next reason is the management, it is proven over and over again. the next reason is that they own the transportation, processing, warehousing, ... ETC. this reduces end cost because they are not at someone elses mercy. I hope these facts don't get in the way of the conjecture.
They made McDonald so cheap so you can get some sugar but Don`t eat the rolls they don`t have sugar but it has a lot of pork in it so please don`t eat the rolls because it`s disgusting if you don`t eat it i promise that i`ll follow you

Well it is only a fast food restaurant and their food is not as great as any other restaurant. Their food is not as healthy either. I watched a documentary called super size me and it was about a man who had to try ebrything on the mcdonalds menu at least once for 30 days. It affected hiw weight drastically and his sex life. Most people in the documentary were ovwer weight due to eating alot of or only fast food.

I don't think it is that cheap. When you get a meal deal with a large fry and a large drink it costs you about $8. $8 will buy you a weeks worth of frozen chicken nuggets or beef patties, purchased at a store, that you can heat up and enjoy in the comfort of your home. If you count your calories per dollar, it is often less expensive to eat similar foods heated at home.
A large drink at McDonald's costs almost $3 now. A large fry is another $2.50.
At the grocery stores these day, fruits and vegetables are very expensive.. They are normally shipped in from South America. Shipping is expensive and fruits do not last a long time on the shelf. The spoilage rate is high. Meats can be frozen for lengthy amounts of time. They are easy to ship when frozen.
Nutritionally speaking, the calories, protein, and fat contained in the meat at McDonald's are essential to the human diet. Fruits are very high in calories, but high in vitamins. Vegetables normally don't contain many calories, but are great for roughage. Calories are very important to the human diet. It is very important to eat a balanced diet for good health.
they are getting good deals from farmers. some say that the quality is bad. that is not true. they use the finest cheese and the meat is 100% cattle. the salad is fresh and they use heinz ketchup. they use only the best!

Actually quality isn't the factor due to which there is a significant influence in price at McDonald's.
You see, McDonald's have all of their supplies "in-house", which means that they don't buy their supplies from other suppliers, but instead they produce every thing, from beef to colas. This is called reverse integrity in business.
For example, if I'm a owner of a eateries company and i produce every supply for 10$, then for profit i can sell my produce for 15$. But if I buy my supplies from a supplier who produced it in 10 $, then for profit he must sell them for at least 15$, and then for my profit I must sell it for at least 20$.
Yes some branches have employees who are less "careful" or "irresponsible" resulting in low quality. And due to the the low price, every body can buy it from toddlers to senior citizens irrespectable of their class or status. This is called "Business"
THEY MUST HAVE SOMETHING WE DONT KNOW, TELL US YOUR SECRET!! XD by the way its a fast food resturant and BTW in fast food resturants do not let them put ice in your drinks why? cuz their ice is dirtier than toilet water.

Food at McDonald isn't as cheap as it can seem. They save money simply because they buy in bulk. If you buy in bulk you can make it yourself and save money. For example, you can make fries with potatoes and coconut oil for more than 1/3 of what you pay at McDonald's
Economies of scale, as you do the same process/ create the same product (for example make hamburgers) all details of that process become cheaper. Such as the price of transporting the burgers to the store, the discount McDonalds gets because they are buying so many beef patties, etc. There are plenty of mom-and-pop shops that make horrible food, and still charge more than McDonalds- so the argument of quality is not valid, just fun to point out.
It's the fact that you can go to any location anywhere in the world and get the same thing. Cheap food fast. People like things they can count on and McDonald is a constant. That is why they are so popular. Popularity doesn't always mean quality, healthy, good, right or just, it's just being at the right place al the time. McDonald's is so cheap because the quality of their food is so low.
