I am 15 and I've played guitar five years and own 5 guitars. So, with that said, DO NOT buy an expensive first guitar. You may end up hating guitar, as many people quit after a few months. Good starter brands include Epiphone, Squire, and Ibanez. Also check out Craigslist. There are many high quality, guitars for cheap. And Girls Dig acoustic. Never count it out. I have a very expensive acoustic, and very expensive electric. They both sound and play great. And hold and strum different guitars to get a feel for what u like and is comfortable and what isn't. Check out acoustic guitars. Chicks dig it.
The Epiphone Les Paul Standard, ESP LTD EC-256, Kramer Striker Custom 211, Rich Masterpiece Mockingbird, and Squier Classic Vibe 50s Stratocaster are some of the best electric guitars for beginners. You can also look into the Ibanez GRGA32T, Ibanez AF75 Artcore Guitar, Schecter Damien-6, and Jackson JS32RT.
Lots if people say squier, but DON'T buy a squier. Buy a less expensive FENDER. Squier guitars are junk in my opinion. Epiphone is ok, but I would still maybe go with a less expensive gibson. Start out with acoustic first, NOT electric. It will be much better for your fingers in the future. Fender makes some great less expensive acoustics.
