Tricks for a long flight and sleeping?

I am going to Europe with a group of girls my age next summer and we're taking an overnight flight. I have been on long flights before: I've been to Australia and am generally a good flyer. The issue is I can never sleep sitting up and I am one of those people who needs my sleep, plus our sightseeing starts as soon as we arrive so I really do need to be awake (I cannot go to our accommodations and sleep for 12 hours). I would rather not be yelling at everyone because I'm tired when we get there so I was wondering what tricks others have developed. I have an eye-mask and everything but nothing has ever seemed to help.

You need to make sure that there is a quiet environment, darkness, comfort and warmth. This can be achieved by having noise canceling headphones, eye-mask and a travel pillow. Make sure that you make your elf comfortable by adjusting your seat and cover yourself. You can also visit a doctor for sleeping pills prescription.

Have your doctor prescribe you a low dosage sleeping pill, that way you can get some sleep.

ha ha, no. Thanks though. I am not using meds for this. Just to add so people don't suggest this: please don't tell me to take gravol or benadryl to make me drowsy; I am one of the fraction of the population who has a reverse reaction and gets really wired.
