how can I be a vegetarian?

me and my friend agreed that we don't eat red meat and that we both should just be semivegetarian (meaning only eating it a couple times a year)

There's no such thing as a "semi-vegetarian" really, but cutting back on meats is very healthy even if it's to a couple of times a year. You won't regret it. How you do is just not eat meat too much.

It's harder than you think, actually. You can't really just stop eating a major portion of your diet.

A great way is to watch videos of animal cruelty. Those will help. The movie Vegucated is a great one. Then, even if you don't want to do that, gradually decrease your meat-eating. For example, go a week without eating meat, then eat meat, then go two weeks, then eat meat, and so on, until you are off of meat. It's harder than you think, but totally worth it. You can lose weight and be healthier, and you seem very compassionate. **Vegetarians save an average of 95 lives a year.** :)

Take a good vitamin and mineral supplement then.
How far do you want to go with it?
Eggs are chickens, milk, cheeses, cream, etc, comes from cows,...
What about fish?
It may be advisable to simplify things and aim for a well balanced diet low in red meats.
That would depend on your reasons for pursuing this aim.

Meat is good for you. If you want to cut back on it, though, I guess you could start off my taking baby steps.
