Any electricians out there?
Half of my house is experiencing a brown out. Last night half the power was almost out completely. AC is off.

We also turned off Hot water heater.. Now the lights remain dim. Has anyone experiened this before?

Brown out usually happens due to voltage dropping in an electrical power supply system. It could be there is a bad connection or the neutral connection to the affected outlets is floating. Confirm with your neighbors if they are experiencing the same problem. Contact your power supply company and inform them about the problem.

I've talked to one neighbor who is not experiencing the same. I'll check with others when they wake up. I called the electric company and they are coming out to check their part. I really hope it's on their end. Thank you for your quick reply.

In such situations, the problem is usually on the local electrical company. Am glad that you were sorted..

I've experienced it before. Turn off the main power supply on the control box for half an hour. You may be experiencing this cause to much power by neighbors is being used up and is why it's affecting you. If thus doesn't work call PGandE or local power company or an electrician
