I think Paula Deen is a great person - but not perfect. They're harping on her for using the "n" word 30 YEARS AGO! For Pete's sake, people. Thirty years ago, it was much more commonly heard than it is now, even tho' it still was a "bad" word. And in 30 years, I'm sure she's changed (and grown). Now if she KILLED someone 30 years ago and hid it. Of if she committed treason 30 years ago, and has hid it, and it all was coming to light, it'd be different. But using a bad word 30 years ago? And she even regrets THAT?
she said the n word and got fired, right? well my opinion is this. I do not care what she said. I am white and I don't care what words people say to me so I don't get offended. apparently the n word is so offensive and I think black people should relax more because if they were to call me a "cracker" I would not care. I don't see what the problem is with people these days. Everyone just needs to relax.
I absolutely love Paula Deen. I support her. She's confessing of saying something she said years ago. We all make mistakes. Are any of you perfect? Go listen to some rap songs or go down town. I'm sure you'll hear that or hear something just as bad. She made a mistake! She ain't perfect! None of us are. She apologized and learned. It's time to let it go and move on. There are much worse things to worry about. Paula Deen is an amazing person and doesn't deserve this. She isn't racist.
Apparently Paula used to work at a bank and one day it was robbed the robber was black and afterwards she described the guy to her husband as a you no what. The robbery was bout 30 years ago,my opinion she can't take back what she said
Why is it black people can call each other that, make songs using that, yet if anyone else says it they scream out the race card. I say it should be the same treatment regardless of who uses the word. If you are going to condemn Paula then condemn all the rest of them. Otherwise let it go. Plus it was 30 years ago. Get over it.
I honestly had no opinion of Paula Dean one way or another either before her "scandal" or after. Yes I have used the "n" word more than once in my life. I am not proud of it, nor am I that overly ashamed of it either. I am dismayed though that, colored people use the word frequently on themselves. Note that I used the word "colored". Some folks, black and white could even find THAT word offensive. I happen to think it is a rather nice word. Unfortunately due to that word's use in the South here in the U.S. and in South Africa, it might not be acceptable anytime soon.
I was curious about what her story was, so I did some google searches on her. She has said that word more then once. And there are a number of other things that she had done, that says a great deal about her character. It was not positive. I am not perfect, made many mistakes in my life. But, never once said that word. It is just so offensive.
I think it was wrong of her to use that word. But I think everyone is making too much a big deal out of it, especially considering it was 30 years ago. They probably used that word themselves sometime in their life. I've never used the "n" word, but I've seen and heard colored people calling each other that. Everyone is acting like it's illegal to use that word. I agree that the "n" word should not be used, but like I said, they're making too much of a big deal out of it. But then again, I don't know much about the whole story anyway. There might be more she said or did that I don't know about... As for my opinion of Paula Dean...well, I never had any opinion of her in the first place.
White people don't walk around calling each other "cracker" or "honky"...... Jewish people don't walk around calling each other "cheap-skates"...... Asian people don't walk around calling each other "slanty-eyed"....... Italian people don't walk around calling each other "spaghetti-twirlers"..... Mexicans don't walk around calling each other "beaners" or "wet-backs"...... ............................................................................................................ I'm not making excuses for people that walk around using "racial slurs", but , well, if I need to explain the point of my answer, then feel free to comment........
This has got to be the one of the great disasters created by Political Correctness. Paula Dean committed no crime. Did she show poor judgement?. Yes. Was she wrong?Yes. Does she deserve to have her career destroyed. No! Hell no! For the Food Network not to step up and publicly declare they had no intention of creating this firestorm is unbelievable cowardice. For Food Network to sit idly and not fix this is appalling.
Your "without sin" reference is actually misplaced on two grounds.
First, having done the wrong thing ourselves in the past doesn't justify us condoning wrong doing in others, no matter what JC intended when he gave the world one of it's most out-of-context quotes.
Second, during its many editions and translations that particular New Testament story has been modified. Cut. Truncated.
John 8:7 says, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." but the original continued.
8:8 And lo, a woman standing with the crowd cast a rock, hitting the accused fairly between the eyes. And Jesus turned to the woman and in a voice full of sadness and compassion said, "Thou just don't get it, doest thou, Mom."

Apologize accepted, Stop shaking in your boots CEO"S..Gezzzz And oh!! That is not a sin, it is just being disrespectful.. A sin is breaking the 10 Commandments..Slang is not one of the Commandments... doesn't mean you don't love your neighbor..it can mean you have a fowl mouth but.... oh forget it! Silly stuff. Have a good weekend!

If you're telling me you've never said anything that might be considered hurtful to someone else you are full of crap. Now I guess they're going to remove every song or movie off the counters that use the exact same word? Come on, it was 27 years ago people. And absolutely no one is without sin
