How do i remove the govenor on a 3.5 hp tecumseh engine?

today, with a friend i took a spring off the cart and put it a few holes higher and it went a little faster, then i put it in a hole all the way at the bottom an i thought it would go slower. of course, it did. how do i remove the governor? is the governor the spring? should i just take off the spring?

Take a hammer and the goddamn thing out with the back end. You have probably a little gear on the inside of the cylinder block; wich is the governer. You will probably end up having the piston come out of the block or some terrible thing happen just to let you know, another thing you can try is adjusting the throttle linkeage is mostly adjusts the idle.

Take it off and see what happens. I cant believe a small motor like that would have a governor. My 170 hp snowmobile came with no governor lol.
