If anyone is injured, yes. If there is property/vehicle damage over $1000 - yes. That dollar amount varies from city to city and county to county so you have to know the rules of that location. Minor bumps and scratches can be worked out between the parties involved without reporting it to the police....as long as all the parties agree.
Not only should information between drivers be exchanged, you should always call the police when involved in a motor vehicle accident. This is for your protection. I hope you are alright and were not injured...
Here in Cal. you are supposed to file a Police report if the damage is $500.00 or more. You should call them anyway, so they can file a report on whose fault the accident was. Trust me $500.00 damage on a vehicle is hardly anything. Mainly you want that report in case of a lawsuit.
