White rice products can be maintained for long periods of time if it's protected from infestation and extreme temperature fluctuations. Whereas brown rice's shelf life is not as long because it has a higher content of oil.
Put it in an airtight container and then put a piece of dry ice on it. But leave a hole in the top of the container. Dry ice is frozen CO2 and is heavier then oxygen. Thus as it "melts", it will fill up the container with CO2 and chase out all of the oxygen. Thus no bugs or anything can live in it. And as long as you gently scoop out the rice from the top, the CO2 will stay in the container. This is a trick for long term food storage.
