My budgie/parakeet keeps tearing newspaper at the bottom of the cage and bundling it in a corner, is she pregnant?

I have 2 budgie/parakeets, a boy and a girl. The floors grated but she finds a way to pull it up through the floor and tear pieces off, setting them in a corner. I'm not sure if shes making a nest or what? (If she is, any tips on what to do?)

Possibly, you should hang a nest box in the cage. News paper is not good for them and you can put some straw in the bottom of her cage for her to make her nest.

I'm not sure. It is hard to tell if a budgie is pregnant, however if she is just let her build her nest. But if she isn't then nothing to worry about, you should clean the cage out any way.

Parakeets are only pregnant for a couple days before they will lay the egg, but nesting is a common sign. You may notice her straining a bit right before she goes to lay the egg as well. In either case you will know soon enough, if she lays an egg or not.

Your best bet though, since you have a male and female in the cage would be to have something in there permanently for them to nest in just in case.
