Go back to the store and try again. If they don't cooperate with you, tell 'em they've lost a customer, then contact the company through email or phone, tell them the situation, you're not happy, and won't be shopping there again. They'll do something.

Ask to speak to manager. This happened to me once and I just stopped shopping at the store.

I had that happen with a pair of running shoes I bought my hubby. They were $150 and they didn't have another pair in his size. At first they told me no but I got a little loud and they caved. Sometimes you just have to stand up for what's right.

That's cool. I have trouble getting mad, though. Especially in public.

Not me.... doesn't bother me at all. I have no shame! My hubby just walked away and waited out side the store but he was sure happy when I came out with the money back. I'm not someone who gets mad often but right is right!!!!

Before raising a big ruckus about this, check out the store's return policies. Most stores have the policy on the back of the receipt - and at the registers. If you feel that you would still like to pursue this, go back with the item and the receipt and ask to talk to the Manager. Most managers will weigh what you are wanting and what their policy is and try and be fair. Asking for what you would want (refund) is fair - screaming and throwing a tantrum is not. If the manager doesn't budge, ask for their manager's name and info and go up the chain, so to speak. I work in retail and find out that as a sales associate I'm more likely to bend over backwards for someone that points out a defect or issue and tells me what they are looking for, much easier to deal with than someone that has an adult tantrum. Good luck.
