I really like hardstyle music but I find all the sub genres a little confusing. Example what makes dubstep different?

Dubstep originated in South East London and has been around since about 1998. It is said that is has bass lines and reverberant drum patterns. Typical instruments used can be a computer, keyboard, turntables, and drum machines.
