5 months ago Dad (90) remembered every detail past & present, now unable to verbalize lots of things (street names, etc.)

No sign of stroke. The only change in his drugs is increased folic acid daily. His nutrition has changed because I am on a diet and I cook every other day, and my mother just stopped eating lactose and she cooks the rest of the time. So we may all be eating less protein and less dairy. Any suggestions?

Have you talked to his doctor? Has his fat consumption been great reduced? My husband had a whole list of things wrong and it came down to his low fat diet.

Could be a type of dementia. Have you tried cooking with coconut oil yet? Coconut oil helps to eliminate the plaque that causes many forms of dementia. He most likely does not need to be on the same diet as you also, Especially at 90. You all need to increase your protein... the lack of it will cause problems unless you have a medical condition that was not described above.

It sounds like some sort of disease that starts slowing you down... Like Alzheimer? http://m.kidshealth.org/kid/grownup/conditions/alzheimers.html
Or maybe it's a kidney disease? http://www.nia.nih.gov/health/publication/kidney-disease-silent-problem
I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I hope he gets better soon.
