I don't want to be a christain. Help?

all of my family is and I just don't believe. I think it all sounds stupid and a little crazy. I believe I would be happier just living life without dealing with crazy religious people. I also think religion is the root of all the world's problems. What should I tell them?

Why do you have to tell them anything? If your family loves you, they'll respect what you choose.

I'm in the same boat you are. I just told them I think people can believe in whatever they like, but god is not where I place my beliefs.

I don't know what to tell you here kid. My only recommendation is to "play along" for as long as you can. If some of your "brethren" are being overly obnoxious by getting in your face there are some counter measures you can take. I know this: Just because one regularly attends a Christian church, does NOT make them automatically a "Christian". I think I may have spotted a "demon" or two in a few churches. I also know this: Jesus is worthy of respect and worship. One does NOT have to attend church every Sunday, to show respect/worship. Just learn to believe, then "enjoy" a most interesting roller coaster ride.

Tell them after you turn 18 and move out. In the mean time, just go through the motions to keep the family peace. If you tell them, it will be doubly worse for you since they will feel the need to "help" you.

I will make one recommendation, though. Try going to a similar denomination instead. You just might not be going to the church that is right for you.

Connor, you are young and obviously don't understand what being Christian really is, hopefully when you mature and no longer wish to rebel against your parents, you will gain a better understanding and want to be Christian. It's not about a building you visit weekly and it's not something you can wish away because it makes you uncomfortable. It's about complete love and trust as well as eternal life.
In the meantime while you are in your parents home you need to follow their rules. No one can make you believe but you need to go with them for church etc. When you're 18 you can then live your life as you want and tell your parents.

Well I just think that by accepting an undead-unseen Jewish man as your eternal master through telepathic talks and so that he can remove an evil caused by a talking snake that convinced a woman to eat a fruit off of a magical tree is a little absurd. Thanks for trying but i'm not crazy.

Neither am I. I have the power of the Holy Spirit which tells me the truth. It's your life to do as you please. Best wishes.

Just tell them. I don't agree with a lot of views of Christianity and made my own that sound better instead of sinning once and having to go to hell for eternity I think that's way too far. I don't believe in hell or the devil but I believe in a God and Jesus Christ but some views of Christianity I don't agree with so when people ask me "Are you a Christian?" and I say "I am one in my own view"

Find a reason in your day to be happy with your family.
Love them with all of your heart. It is unfortunate that they
alow themselves to be them selves but they will not
give you the same freedom. Be patient for some day you will
get your chance for the rest of your life.

Tread lightly if you still live at home...or you may find there really is a hell! If you're financially independent and out on your own then tell your family. They'll probably never really accept it, but you'll be happier. I told my family I was an atheist about 12 years ago and it's still a sore spot. But I liken the relief I felt at being honest about who I was to the comfort they take in their religion...and don't we all deserve to feel at peace with ourselves?

well do you believe in any higher being at all?
if yes, you might be agnostic or a mystic (mystics tend to be more spiritual then agnostics)
if not, then just tell them that you are an athiest :)

First, I'd like to say 'welcome to understanding.' Religion stifles all good things. You may want to be flagrantly open about what you believe but there is no need to shove it in there faces- only to rather enlighten them to the truth of what you believe in moments when they presuppose you believe in god and such. I will say hold hands for grace at a hosts house out of politeness but rigidly would not say grace. If a person calls me godly or what not I will correct them. If a person tells me something that is untrue I will tell them what I believe. There is no need to be rude but to let them know firmly and politely that I do not share there beliefs and am comfortable with that detail.

It's interesting that you say that religion is the root of all the world's problems, because you're exactly right. And you're not the only person that feels that way. The main reason why people view religion as the source of all problems is because some religion in itself is contaminated with false worship and false teachings. It's corrupt. This is why it is so refreshing to find the truth.
