Children should be able to handle this amount of money at 20 years old. However, they will still need someone to guide them in making wise decision. This will also depend on how the child was brought up to be responsible when it comes to handling finances.
Depends on the person period! Some people are careless with money and some are more conservative. You have to look at their pattern over the years. Me personally, I have a 150K life insurance policy, you would think I would leave my daughters father as te beneficiary but he's so careless with money my sister is and my daughter is secondary. Life insurance policies are designed to take care of your family in the event of something happening to you but sometimes it's just not that simple.
oh that's tough. children, teenagers, and even young adults have NO IDEA what to do with that. they don't know the value of work=money therefore they squander and waste it, not realizing that $100,000 won't just fall in their laps again. be careful - savings bond for when the go to college or get a house or turn 22
my wife and her siblings were left fairly a fairly sizeable inheritance by there grandfather. the way he set it up was in two trusts. the first was a college trust. they all have a full ride through college Thanks to him. it was set so if one didn't go to college,on his 30th birthday the money in the trust would be evenly split amongst all the kids. if they did go then upon graduation they recieved the remaining money in the their trust. the second trust was tied to the sale of a piece of land but basicly said the would receive would receive $10,000 a year until the age of thirty at which point they would receive the entire remaining amount. he chose $10k because it was a large enough sum to be helpful but small enough that they would have to still work a job, very down to earth man. I'd say that 25 is about the earliest you should entrust that amount of money to a child
Women age 25 Men age ?????? (Never?) Maybe 25 for some, but many men never learn how to handle money well. Recieve $100,000 and theyll right away buy a car, giant screen TV and lifetime supply of beer and steak. Or a boat and truck.
