scooping it up immediately. We have to always watch our dog and say "Leave it" in as LOUD and obnoxious voice as possible. She sometimes still does it.
In our case, she was doing it, because she was starved as a puppy, and the only nutrients she could get was the other dogs poop. Once learned it is very hard to stop. BTW, the official name is Coprophagia.
you basically have to train the dog and when he goes to eat it you say no and pull him away from it just work with him on it and if he doesn't eat it you can reward him with his favorite treat and then it will register to him that if i don't eat the poop i get a treat and that's what you want him to do
I'm having the same problem with my new puppy. I talked to the vet, and he said it's pretty normal with puppies and that they'll eventually grow out of it. It could be because they're not getting the proper nutrients, therefore still hungry. Poop (for some odd reason) has the nutrients that the pup needs. He recommended changing up the pups food with one that has all the nutrients it needs and watching over it when popping so that it could be picked up immediately. Good luck.
