Why are four leaf clovers so rare to find?

Report as

A four leaf clover is either derived from a recessive gene, or a genetic mutation. Dominant genes are more likely to show up in an organism, while recessive traits require two of the same alleles to show up as a physical trait.

because the reason they are 4 leafed is from the plant. see the plant is misfuntioned and produces 4 leafed clovers. if you find one four leaf clover in that same area its likely youll find another since they from the same plant. so theres not alot of misfunctioned clover plants that why they are rare

Standard clover has three leaves.. four leaves are a mutation with no special survival trait. So it will happen from time to time, but it will never become common.

They are simply a mutation that in a field of three-leaved clovers might be hard to find BUT if you cultivated merely the four-leaved clovers you would get more of them. It wouldn't be so unusual then.

It's interesting, it's like a rose and a clover had a baby together lol

I find them all the time. I've even been luck to have found a 5 leave clover in 2002 & still have it. I love looking for them, I find that I find more of them when I'm not making an effort to look for them.

Because that's a mutation and four leaf clovers do not naturally exist.

Well it's because the plant is supposed to be 3 leafed. If you find one in a area you'll probably find another because the plant grew like that and these plants spread. My dad really found 1 by the side of our house. Then he found a couple more because of the gene.

They usually have only 3, but because of a genetic mutation it causes it to have an extra leaf. Hence it being called Four-Leaf Clover.

they are actually not THAT rare. I mean, most of my siblings could go outside and search a patch of clovers for a few minutes and find a few. But for some reason I have never been able to find one :(
