Does it look bad that I show up at the beach that I work at when I told my manager I can't work today?

1 month ago I put my name down that I cant work July 4th which is today because it is crazy that day. But If I go to the beach where I work to have fun and my manager sees me, does it look bad and unprofessional?

I don't think so. you requested the day off, it was approved, and it's yours to do what you want with it. now if you'd called in sick that would be a no no.

Thats very unprofessional! if I was your boss I'd be like "why is he taking off where he works" when he could just work instead of be off. and most people leave work to do something other than stay on the job site .

it's a beach, not a jobsite... completely different situation.

It's fine. Managers know that people enjoy themselves on their time off. If you had called in sick or lied to get this day off, then yes, it's unprofessional.

No .. if you have asked for a specific day off you have given your boss plenty time to arrange for someone else to work on that day. It's far different than being scheduled to work, calling in sick which puts your boss on the spot to find someone with short notice to cover your shift...THEN be seen at the beach.
