Would putting black plastic over the windows in a house help to conserve energy by blocking out the rays, or increase energy consumption

by absorbing the heat?

Report as

Insulating windows with plastic can help conserve energy (probably more so in winter), but goodness, don't use black. Neighbors or people driving by might suspect it's a drug house or that some other illegal activity is going on there. Not to mention it seems like black-covered windows would be really depressing.

I was only going to do a select few windows and we live out in the middle of no where so there are no neighbors. And two of the windows are in the bedroom so it helps us sleep :)
