What ever happened to the world being more self dependent and being sane and not so...dirty?

People use to be stronger
they use to be more self dependent
not asking for help as much
not so quick to go insane and shoot up a school for getting bullied or kill them selves for it.
sticks and stones?
kids use to have jobs as soon as they could get one.
now every where i look i see people on welfare selling food stamps and on drugs. people asking for handouts and depending on the government and other people. kids/people cutting them selves for celebrity's. girls showing more skin these days. more people thinking the world owes them. What happened to the world?

Lots of things have happened from wars, broken families and illness. Its lots of different things that has caused the breakdown of morals. At the end of the day one persons hurt ends up affecting a thousand people who affect other people. At the end of the day everyone gets hurt. I hope you ok though.

Yeah well that is a simple one!!!
This country was built on a very simple but good truth!!!
"In GOD WE Trust" Now people don't have anything to believe in so the opposite of light has taken over!!!!!!
Satan is trying to walk away with everything!!! Remember he loses in the end!!!

this nation was built in freedom of religion
so people can be free of religion also

Yes they freed themselves from religion. They also freed themselves from taking responsibility for their own actions; they freed themselves from morals; they freed themselves from respecting others; etc, etc.

so i dont have any morals? your judging all atheist which is wrong. i have my reasons to which is why i dont believe in god or any religion. I still respect others. look at you. your calling me disrespectful and you dont even know me. if gods real let him judge. who are you to call me disrespectful and that i have no morals. yeah you may have religion. but doesnt make you any better then anyone else.

Firstly I am not judging anyone. No where did I mention atheists. Many who are not atheists have abandoned "religion" without declaring themselves atheists. Yes your reasons are your own and I really don't care what they are. I made a general statement stating that people have left religion; people don't take responsibility for their own action; people have lost their morals and fail to respect others. I did not say or imply all the negative aspects are related or associated with one another. Apparently you have some issues of your own and are extremely defensive without cause. If my comment offended you it was not my intention.

too much emphasis has been put on building "self-esteem" in children in the last 25 years
No winners or losers in kid's sports, no failing grades, no consequences
The results is that young people expect to get everything they want immediately
They can't handle any type of rejection or failure and blame others instead of themselves.

Every generation has decried the "youth of today" and romanticized their childhood.

Political correctness, we instill in children to not offend anyone so in turn they are never taught how to handle being offended or upset. We try to instill too much self esteem in children-no winners or losers in sports, no valedictorians, every kid passes classes. Somehow the value of human life has decreased. It has become accepted and condoned to have abortions, when someone or people get mad they instantly resort to violence, usually guns. Here in the US we have become so divided by politics, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, economic class and much more. Instead of looking at each other as people and treat each other with respect we label and judge others for many reasons. Some how we need to stop this stuff and treat each other well.

In my opinion, major factors include, but are not limited to: breakdown of the family unit , lack of or unwillingness to assume personal responsibility for individual actions ( " the devil made me do it , etc. "), lack of discipline in public schools ( yes, I was made to stand in the corner a few times , etc. ) , lack of respect for authority figures such as teachers, counselors , parents, law enforcement , adults in general , and so on . Taking any reference to God and prayer out of school ( all assembly programs and athletic events opened with a prayer) ,saying the Pledge of Allegiance in class , there are more, but by now you get the idea!
