His birthday is in April. Celebration has no tie to his birth. The shepherds were the priests charged with tending the sacrificial lambs for Passover.
December celebration was Christian replacement for celebration of tree hugers. But it's a perfect time. Its4 days after the first day of winter.( day it begins getting lighter every day)he is the light of the world! What better day could there be than December 25?

Usually this question doesn't show up till December. No where in any "accepted" "bible" is Jesus' birthday associated with December 25th. In actuality some researchers and biblical scholars believe Jesus would have been born in April.

It can't be July in Israel. Must have been last quarter of December eg 25/12/0000
Neither BC nor AD

Its not the date that matters. Its the meaning, purpose. Um, say your birthday lands on Tuesday, you generally, would celebrate it on weekend. Work, school, things like this. So this is no different. We just celebrate it on December 25th.

Some say that December 25th was chosen because pagans were celebrating Dec. 25 th & they wanted them to join with Christians. Those same people selected Easter to get pagans to join in because that's when they had been celebrating the renewal of life. It would be tough to prove so an individual chooses what he/she wants to believe. For certain, Jesus was not born Dec. 25th.

Pagus is village eg Nazareth. A villager is a pagan. In that Empire Christianity first appeared in Cities as villagers worshiped the likes of Cupid. That is why theirs was called village religion (pagan religion) Mysteriously the word religion fizzled out. People now think pagan is non "Urban Religion". Jesus was a villager of Nazareth.

Your profile page gives no information but, because you asked this question, I think you might live in Australia.

"Christmas in July" is a promotion by various restaurants who put on traditional Europoean and American Christmas menus because the weather is cold enough to enjoy them. Normally in Oz most of us have BBQs for Christmas and give the hot, rich meals a miss. They're too hard to digest when the temperature's in the high 90s.

Nobody knows when JC was born but it's traditionally celebrated, world wide, on December 25 which, coincidentally, is also Santa Claus's birthday.

I'm unaware of any record of Jesus celebrating his birth at all, even the bible does not record him having a celebration for his birth. The date of Dec 25th is the date of the birth of Mithras a pagan god that influenced the christian religion. It was adopted by Constantine to gain converts to his new found religion.

The Christmas in July in the US is mainly trying to make a break from the hot summer and to help you think about freezing your butt off in the winter.

The undocumented birth date of a potentially imaginary person will always be open to interpretation. Also, everyone has only one birthday a year, but everyone also has 364 UN-birthdays! As a matter of fact, today is *my* unbirthday too!! "A very merry unbirthday. . ."

No one knows the exact date of Jesus birth. Just a bit less than two thousand years ago December 25th was chosen as the day to commemorate his birth. I doubt Jesus celebrates his own birth at all now since hes in heaven and such earthly things have no importance there. Also indoubt he celebrated his birthday in December even when he was alive. Its a fairly good supposition that his actual birthday fell anywhere from late January to possibly as late as May or June. No one knows. December is when Christians have celebrated it for close to two thousand years and thats good enough.

Actually, Mr. Space Alien, Christmas is in December. But that's a blind guess. No one knows when he was born, but some biblical scholars think he was born in the fall.

Christianity has adapted many things from ancient cultures like Egyptians, Babylonians,.... Christmas that is celebrated in December is actually the festival of sun, which is adapted from the ancient culture.

For a change "ancient cultures" not "pagans" *********** More than five stars I guess.
Report as
all the above mentioned cultures including hinduism are pagans who worship multiple dieties in the form of pictures and statues.
