You might look at this another way. Since you are not a good risk for credit, you could start by saving up and buying whatever it is with cash. There are a lot of places that you can get used furniture for cash that will work until you save up for new. Get a used car instead of buying a new one. Having little to no debt works better - less worry on your finances since you won't make any purchases until you can actually pay for this. Finances tight? Get a second job delivering pizzas or whatever to help boost your income. When my son was a freshman in high school, my goal was to be debt free by the time he was a senior. I got a second job - worked like hell. We went without A LOT of things until I paid off $13k of debt in 18 months. In his senior year, I was let go from my job that I'd had for 14 years. We had less stress because we didn't have debt. Good luck.
