Why a sound cannot be heard on moon?
Sound is a mechanical wave that needs a medium (like air) to propagate through, and since there is no medium on the moon, there is no transfer for the sound waves.
there is no medium (air) for sound to travel
The Moon is too far away from earth
Sound waves requires medium for propagation but there is no air on the moon thou that's why sound can't be heard on moon .
Outer space is a vacume. Sound cannot travel in a vacume.
Because no one is there to hear it.
A couple of answers are obviously correct. Sound is a mechanical wave (specifically a compressional wave) which needs a medium to propagate. There is no air on the moon.
