How do I tell my boyfriend of 2 years that his missing front tooth is embarrassing and he needs to fix it?

he lost his front tooth in the army some years ago and keeps putting off getting it fixed. I value a nice set if teeth and to be honest I'm embarrassed by his.

You mean boy toy, right? Someone who's not valued for who he is but what he looks like? Have the decency to be honest with him and tell him you're too shallow for a LTR with a boyfriend, a human being. Then have the decency to get out of his life and grow up!

U should take him a pic and then when he looks at it he might notice that his front 2 tooth looks really embarrassing and he might fix it and u have to support him and if u love him u wouldn't care about his lost 2 teeth but if it that bad try to tell him in a very nice way (:

If you've been with him for 2 years, you should have told him by now. Just mention it to him that you think it would be nice for him to have his tooth fixed so he will have a nice smile :)

You have mentioned your concerns to him? If it bothers you so much, you will have to tell him how you feel - or move on! Remember - us guys are NOT mind readers :-) But Lyra96 has a good answer.... make it about him.

Guys are different then girls. You can be gental and blunt. Tell him you love him. Gould like to see how much it would cost to get tooth done. I'm sure it bothers him also. Then have relations with him... He will be smiling! :-) We do have feelings, but not like women when it comes to these matters. The, yo let's get your tooth fixed...would actually work.

The man was a soldier. I'm sure he's tough enough to hear he needs to go to the dentist without falling apart on you.

@Parto: I think that's just a rumor. I never saw any when I was in the military.

How have you been with him two years, and embarressed by him? Wow. Now when you tell him, he's going to wonder what else you have been thinking- and with good reason.

It seems to be bothering you more than it does him. Perhaps what you should be contemplating is: Why does it embarrass you? Why are u making something about him affect you in a negative way? Why r u making it about you when he is the one who is missing the tooth? That is self-centered thinking. There could be a lot worse things for him to be missing...an arm...a leg... Maybe he already realizes that, and is grateful to have what he has. Why don't you just ask him how he feels? If he wants to fix it, help him make an appointment. If he doesn't care, than accept it for what it is. If he is a good man, a missing tooth should not get in the way of a good relationship.

I was raised to take good care of my teeth. I have a fake front tooth myself from an accident when I was a kid. I would be embarrassed if I had a missing front tooth; I guess I'm embarrassed FOR him. But your probably right, it is self centered thinking. I appreciate your feedback.

Please know that when I say self centered I mean that you are thinking in terms of your feelings not his feelings. I in NO WAY MEAN selfish. It is great that you took an insightful moment to realize how You feel. Don't waste your energy being embarrassed for him if he is feeling secure about himself. Spend your time loving him. By the way, if it were me, I would keep my teeth looking pristine too! But, this isn't about teeth, it is about mutual awareness. Thank you for sharing with me. I've learned something here too. BE WELL, BE HAPPY.

Tell him it makes him look like a bum. He can get one which he can pop out when not with you, if he likes that look.

I lost a prominent tooth that shows when I smile from a bad infection, I am getting a new implant. It cost me $5000 for one tooth to be fixed, does your boyfriend have that kind of money? I saved and saved its not easy!

Just tell him that his missing gap on his smile might be perceived by others as lack of hygiene, and they might get mis conceptions about who he really is. Tell him that you will feel much better if he get that fixed. Finally, tell him that you know that it is unfair for you to ask him to fix something in his body, so ask him what would he like you to get fixed. Assure him that this is not a tricky question, but more of a fair trade. If he says that maybe you need to lose a little weight, don't take it personal, just take it as a point of view from someone who wants the best for you. Be prepared to follow through with your change if you expect him to follow through as well.
