In so scared of thunderstorms what can I do? There are going to be scattered ones an I hate the noise.

Noise cancelling head phones. Or any other kind of head phones. Not ear-buds, but full size head phones. Put on your favorite music, and your head phones, and ignore the storm.

Put in some earbuds and play some music. Viola!

I usually sleep. It scares me when the power goes out, especially when there's a huge "BANG" outside from it.
I've learned to sleep through noises like that.

You can't change the weather. There's nothing you can do. It might stink, but the sooner you figure out how to not be afraid, the sooner you no longer lose sleep over these things.

when I was a young boy I was terrified of thunder storms. one time during a particularly bad storm my father took me out to the covered porch and we sat on the hammock listening. after a few seconds he started humming low thruming tune. the storm outside the screen provided precession to his tune, the wind harmony, and the thunder symbal crashes. sense that day I've never been afraid of thunderstorms, I love them in fact. try to listen to the music of the storm, each one is different and waiting for someone to find it.

Well there's nothing you can do to change the weather, but what I like to do is turn on the radio and listen to music. That way you can focus more on the music rather than the thunder.
