Is it rude or offensive to ask someone if they took fertility drugs to conceive their triplets or if they conceived naturally?

Especially if it is someone whom you do not know very well or speak to only once every few years.

It depends on why you want to know. If you're just curious, it's rude and nosy. If you want info because you want to do invitro, then tastefully asked at an appropriate time- maybe.

Only if you make it sound rude. If you kind of take a joking tone with it and say something like, "What'd you do, take fertility pills?" I don't think whoever it is will be upset.

Thanks.

A rude NOYB type question is still rude, even as framed as a quasi-innocent inquiry. These details are personal, and, as you said, you don't know them very well.

Innocent inquiry is perfectly fine. As long as it's not rude, people don't generally mind, unless they're jerks.

If you know that the couple had problems getting pregnant, then asking if they took fertility pills to conceive triplets, would not be rude or offensive. Now, if they had no trouble conceiving that you know about, then yes, asking would be rude or offensive.
Hope that makes sense.

Yes, this kind of question is rude AND offensive. Why would you require this very personal information of a stranger?

You never know how THEY might feel about it. I think it's best just not to ask. Not sure how you knowing the answer will help you in anyway. Personally I think it would be offensive. Good luck.
