In this case, there will be 80 cats. Since the ratio of cats to dogs is 4:7, and we have 140 dogs, to get this we multiply 140 by 4 to get 560. The next step is to divide 560 by 7 to get 80.

Set up a ratio:
4/7 = x/140. Cross multiply
7x = 560
/7 /7
x = 80 ANSWER
