Are dachshunds British?

I own a dachshund/Labrador retriever and I was curious

I don't know about Dachshunds but Labs were bred to be smaller, less furry versions of Newfoundlands but the name 'Newfoundland' was already taken, so they named the dog after the sea in which they fished: Labrador.

The Dachshund was bred in Germany, the name literally means "Badger Dog" and your Labrador was bred in Newfoundland but later imported to England.
