Depends how much use and how much you have to spend. You can buy many inexpensive treadmills for under $1000, however if they get regular (daily) use, most are likely to break down or need repair such as broken or worn belts within a year. Also the electric motors on the cheaper ones are noisy and tend to overheat which leads to early failures and expensive repairs. If you intend to make a treadmill a long term part of your fitness plan then I would recommend you invest in a good fitness club type of brand like Landice or life fitness which are heavy duty and made for rough usage. They are not cheap; expect to pay $2500-$3000 and up but they will last a long time. My wife's landice is 12 years old and gets used six days per week for over an hour at a time at near max speed. Expensive when we bought it in 2001 ($2300) but well worth it now.
