How can I get rid of fleas.. fast?

I got fleas this summer and my pets are itching like crazy! How can I get rid of them?

Report as

STEP 1
1. Wash/dip dogs 2. Spray house 3. Spray yard at the same time.
Inside and Outside Flea Control Products –When spraying you need to think of two things --- 1. What pesticide to use? --- 2. What IGR to use? You add “Insect Growth Regulator” or IGR to the pesticide for your house and yard. You need both to achieve the flea free goal in the house and yard, as well as the pets.
For steps 2 & 3 - After de-fleaing/washing my dogs, I used Permethrin SFR and added an “Insect Growth Regulator” called “Archer”, that contains NYLAR. Inside the house I also used Permethrin SFR. For the inside house, I used Precor “Insect Growth Regulator” that I had on hand. You can also use “Insect Growth Regulator” called “Archer” in the house. I used a pump sprayer in the house, and a hose sprayer outside. You can mix IGR’s with other pesticides also, or you can spray them separately. Nylar/Archer also prevent roaches from maturing, so you get double help with fleas, as well as with roaches.

At your local supermarket/pet store, there will probably be several flea treatments. Try asking the pet store f you need help deciding, or your vet, they might be able to help.

Take your pets out and bomb the house. You have to kill the fleas inside the house as well as the animals. Otherwise, you are going to be in a vicious cycle.

The pets and your residence need to be treated, call the vet for safest options.

put salt all over your carpet everywhere in the house and let it dry. It dries the carpet so the fleas hate it and move to the surface. Then go vacuum.

Last summer my house was flea infected and the only thing that worked was this product called precor you spray it everywere even your bed mattress and all over your floors they must be covered for it to work. Let it dry once it's dry it becomes non toxic for any house hold pets. Another thing is recommended that you vacuum for a few days. This worked for me trust me precor it's the best product in the market for this good luck!

Don't use the cheap store brands, they can cause convulsions and other health issues. I like Frontline or Advantage and treat your house as others have said.

1) 80% of all fleas are in the home and NOT on the pets (or people).
2) Apply anti-flea drops on your pets. They come in a package with 3 squeeze bottles and cost about $12 for the box.
3) Wash everything
4) Get your pets out or lock them in the basement or attic where you have already used insecticide bombs and sprayed all the sides. Make sure they have access to fresh air.
4) Use insecticide bombs. Use 2 - 4 per room. The more the merrier.
5) Get out and don't come back for at least 8 hours.
6) vacuum everything
7) Never swat a flea. Pick it up between your fingers and crush it with your nails. They have a hard shell and swatting does nothing.
8) If all else fails wait for winter. The cold kills fleas. Unless you can bring your entire house down to 65 Fahrenheit for a day or two.

I worked in a school where we had a problem with head lice and was told . That lice hate some shampoo. Is this the same idea? and where can you find Ivory soap? Thanks
Report as
Yes, it's a similar concept. Ivory soap is available at almost any store.

The issue with fleas are the eggs usually dont die as easy as the adults. so you must redo everything a couple of times a month but spray the carpet , furniture inside areas with a mixture of white vinegar and water half and half is fine. the vinegar odor wont last long. mix in that 1 teaspoon of boric acid or the 20 mule team Borax. This product makes fleas sterile. Spray the yard with white vinegar and a few drops of Dawn dish soap. Vacuum 2 x's a day for a week or two. the roller takes the wax off fleas and they die within a couple of hours!

There are certain sprays you can buy that you spray around your house. Give your pets baths, then apply a flea treatment like Frontline to their fur.

sorry, no mater how hard you try they will not leave. once you got them there is no getting rid of them. my dogs, cats, and house has been infested with them since 2009. i have tried flea bombs, flea spray, flea powder, flea medicine, salt, vacuuming every day, and a dehumidifier. none of them have worked. they come back year after year.
