What can I do to not be depressed? I'm taking medication, but it doesn't seem to be working?

Try doing nice things for other people. It's amazing how it takes your focus off yourself and gives you such a positive lift. You'll also find that doing nice things for others has other rewards- like people will do nice things to you in return...

Do not stop or change in medication without talking to your doctor first. This can cause withdrawal as your body comes off the meds. It's possible your doctor started you on a very low dose and needs to adjust it for you. Also, if you don't feel comfortable with your current dr don't be afraid to change. You have to find the right Dr and therapist that fits you and what you are going thru. I bipolar I and have been thru all of this and understand what you are saying. Good luck you can get your life back.

I have the same problem and I tried reading the bible's psalms. Also better your sleeping hour lack of sleep makes it worse. Also walking is relaxing and tired some to help you sleep. But most of all the number one solution is praying... God bless you i will pray for you.

Exercise is a good start - try going for a walk - 10 min/day; then 15, then 20, - till you are walking 30 min per day. Listen to music that makes you laugh or something upbeat.
When you are doing things like this that are good for yourself - you will feel more in control of yourself.
This is a start.
