Always look on the positive or bright side, or do some things that you enjoy or make you feel happy inside.....like listening to music, eating your favorite snacks, being with friends, talking a walk, etc. Also don't think about the situations all the time because then it just brings you down even more.
Having a positive attitude always help. Its all in the mind. What you think at that time decides your future always What you can do is think about what to do next and how to minimise the bad things effect, rather thinking about what happened
BowieGirl, Something I've been told recently, (which I haven't started yet, but sounds like a lovely idea) is to start a journal. Everyday, you write in it, what made that day special, what made that day bad, etc. You write down, why you are feeling down, why you are having a good day. Some quotes or songs that helped you through that time. So that later, when you are having a bad day, you can go back to the journal and the "good days" to re-experience them.
Stay focused on one's dreams, one's triumphs, and the knowledge of what one has learned from one's failures. Once you are able to meld the three and cross the "awareness" threshold of believing in one's self, you will never look back, ever. Start a new story in one's Life, not just another chapter. Perhaps, start with "Once upon a time..........
look around you, you will see a lot of people live more unfortunately than you do, that might help you to be more grateful. if no one is below you, than you have hit rock bottom and things can only get better from there...
Surround yourself with positive people. Remember good or bad you have no control over things that happen & things happen for a reason. At the beginning of last month I was forced to move out of my home w/ my girlfriend and son and back with my mom because I lost my job and my g/f couldn't help support me (This was a mutual decision). It was very hard and depressing for me. Later in the week i totaled my car, then a couple days later I suffered 3rd degree burns on my fingers, a week after that I was attacked by a dog while jogging. So I was broke with no vehicle, severely burned hands and had huge chunks of flesh bitten out of my ass and thigh. All I wanted to to was give up and sit in the dark basement. My friends and family wouldn't let me do it. They forced me out and wouldn't let me quit. Now I have a better job that love and pays more, nicer car, I am getting a new puppy from the owners of the dog next week. Most of all I am back living w/ my girlfriend and son. I do have scars from the burns and bites but they're there to always remind that it does get better.
It helps to have a relationship with God to help you get through the difficult times. Also, having several hobbies to take your mind off of your problem, and keeping a journal to just "let it all out." if you are still feeling depressed after trying several different things, talk to your doctor and they can prescribe anti-depressants for you. also therapy along with anti-depressant meds will help you cope on a day to day basis. best of luck to you. :)
