Can husband collect on deceased x-wife Social Security?

I found this information on the internet:
The ex-spouse may be eligible for widow or widower’s benefits after the ex-spouse dies. “Someone who has been married to more than one person for at least 10 years and is now unmarried or a widow or widower, can collect survivor’s benefits on the ex-spouse who has the highest earning work record,” Epstein said. “Each person can only get one check.”
So if there are multiple marriages, the person must pick which work record on which they want to collect. Obviously, they want to pick the work record that will get them the largest check. If a person remarries before the age of 60, they can’t collect on an ex-spouse’s record unless that second marriage also ends in divorce or from death of the second spouse.
?
The one exception is a divorced spouse who is collecting disability benefits can remarry as early as age 50 and still collect survivor’s benefits.

Yes. My mother was told she could collect on my father's social security even though they had been divorced for 30 years. (she never remarried) Hers was more so she didn't need his.

So it would depend if the husband got remarried and when.

Right I already read that when you first posted it so my answer was it depends if the husband got remarried and at what age.

The husband remarried after age 50. What about this exception?

Are there disability benifits?

If you're asking if your current husband can get his deceased ex wife's Social security then, no he couldn't. If I am reading this correctly the reason he cannot, is because he's currently married to you.

The exception apllies only if that spouse has allready been collecting benefits before re-marriage, and to be safe.. would double check with the SS office before doing anything if this income is the one he/she would want to retain.
